FMCSA Emergency Declaration Temporary Operating Authority

One of the provisions of the Expanded Emergency Declaration issued by the FMCSA is an option for Temporary (Interstate) Operating Authority. This operating authority will only apply to motor carriers providing direct assistance supporting emergency relief efforts transporting supplies and equipment.

Authority will not be granted until process agents and proof of insurance are on file. We will provide the process agent filings and will contact your insurance agent to request the insurance filings but THE CARRIER MUST PROVIDE THE PROPER INSURANCE.

The temporary authority is valid for 120 days or until the emergency declaration expires whichever comes first. If a carrier wishes to apply for permanent authority they need to apply using the same MC/USDOT numbers and pay a $300 registration fee to the FMCSA.

CARRIERS THAT ARE CURRENTLY UNDER AN OUT OF SERVICE ORDER ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR TEMPORARY AUTHORITY.
